The College of International Education is a new type of college established by Sichuan Normal University in 2012 with dual functions of administration and teaching in order to further accelerate the process of internationalization of SICNU education, promote international educational exchanges and cooperation, and enhance the international reputation of SICNU.

The College mainly undertakes the teaching management of scholarship students of Confucius Institute for International Education of Chinese and Master of International Education of Chinese, the further education and language training of foreign students, the communication and coordination of international cooperation in running schools, and the operation and management of two Confucius Institutes with Yonsei University of Korea and Karachi University of Pakistan. The construction and management of the Thai Culture Center co-constructed by the Thai Consulate General in Chengdu, the construction and management of the Korean Research Center of Sichuan Normal University, a regional and national key research base in Sichuan Province, and the operation and management of examination points of the Chinese Proficiency Examination (HSK), Business Chinese Examination (BCT) and Chinese Language Examination for Primary and Middle School Students (YCT).

The major of enrollment in 2016 of the College of International Education was an undergraduate major in Chinese International Education. Since 2005, our university has begun to recruit undergraduate students of Chinese as a foreign language specialty. Since 2007, it has recruited more than 1000 excellent graduates of five undergraduate courses of Chinese as a foreign language specialty and four undergraduate courses of Chinese as a foreign language specialty. In the autumn of 2013, the Ministry of Education implemented a new training plan in accordance with the new Catalogue of Undergraduate Majors in General Colleges and Universities, in which the major of Chinese as a foreign language would be renamed as the major of Chinese International Education.

The College has gradually established a relatively complete training system for foreign students with and without academic qualifications. With many famous universities in Korea, Thailand, France, Japan, the United States, Australia, Canada and other countries, we have established long-term cooperative and exchange relations, integrated SICNU's superior resources, established a strong faculty, established a service-oriented international exchange and cooperation model, and constructed training with its own characteristics classrooms and several overseas teaching and practice bases.

Adhering to the motto of "Sound and Elegant Rhyme, Travel all over the World", and the style of "Enjoying Broad Views and Taking Advantage of the World", the College undertakes the mission of "Gathering the Strength of SICNU, Integrating Superior Resources, and Developing International Education Characteristics with Full Confidence", and puts forward the requirements of enhancing the development characteristics of the College and SICNU's construction as an internationalized high-level university. On the basis of continually improving the multi-level international student education and the training system of Chinese International Education specialty, the unification of standards is contributing to building SICNU into a base for training high-level overseas students in Western China and a cradle for Chinese International Education talents.
