物理与电子工程学院College of Physics and Electronic Engineering(http://phy.sicnu.edu.cn/)

In November 1952, the Department of Physics of Sichuan Teachers College was established by the combination of the Department of Mathematics and Physics of North Sichuan University, the Department of Mathematics and Physics of East Sichuan Education College and the Department of Physics of Teachers College of Sichuan University, started to enroll four-year and two-year undergraduate students majoring in Physics. In July 1964, 135 students and more than 40 faculty members of Chengdu University majored in physics were incorporated into the Department of Physics, Sichuan Teachers College. In the 1980s, in order to meet the needs of economic and social development and the growth of students, the Department of Physics added the training orientation of Applied Electronic Technology and computer application in physics specialty to provide students with diversified choices. This creative decision lays a solid foundation for professional construction. After ten years of hard work, the Department of Physics established the major of Applied Electronic Technology in 1994 (later renamed as Electronic Information Engineering), and the major of Computer Application in 1996 (later renamed as Computer Science and Technology, which was adjusted to the College of Computer Science and Technology in 2006), the major of Communication Engineering in 2001. In 2000, the Department of Physics was designated as the first batch of undergraduate talent training bases of physics and electronic information in Sichuan Province by Sichuan Provincial Education Department. In 2001, the university renamed the Department of Physics as the College of Electronic Engineering and in 2003 renamed the College of Physics and Electronic Engineering according to its professional development.

In 1979, the College began to enroll postgraduates. In 1981, it was granted the master's degree in condensate physics. In 1986, it was granted the master's degree in physics textbooks and teaching methods. In 2000, it began to enroll the master's degree in education. In 2005, it was granted the master's degree in physics first-level disciplines. In 2011, it was granted master's degree in information countermeasure. In 2014, it was granted master of electronic and communications engineering. In 2005, the Institute of Solid State Physics of Sichuan Normal University was merged into the College of Physics and Electronic Engineering of Sichuan Normal University. The College currently has the right to grant master's degree in physics of the first level, it enrolls five second-level master's degrees in theoretical physics, atomic and molecular physics, condensate physics, optics, particle physics and nuclear physics. The College has three undergraduate majors: physics, electronic information engineering and communication engineering. Physics was approved by the Ministry of Education as a national characteristic specialty construction site in 2007. Electronic information engineering in 2012 and communication engineering in 2013 were respectively approved as the "Education and Training Plan for Excellent Engineers" pilot majors in Sichuan Province. In 2014, the College began to train high-end technical and skilled undergraduate talents of communication engineering specialty with Sichuan Post and Telecommunications Vocational and Technical College, Sichuan Communication Industry Service Co., Ltd.; and the scale of students (undergraduates, postgraduates) in the College is more than 2000.

There are 112 faculty members. Among them, there are 21 professors, 35 teachers with associate professors or other senior professional and technical positions, and 2 doctoral tutors. There are 61 teachers with doctoral degree and 35 teachers with master degree. Among the faculty members, there are two experts who have received the special allowance from the State Council Government, one innovative person in Sichuan's Thousand-Person Program, seven academic and technological leaders and reserve candidates in Sichuan Province, one famous teaching teacher in Sichuan's colleges and universities, and one expert with outstanding contributions in Sichuan Province, which has formed a team of teachers with reasonable educational background and age structure and strong ability of teaching and scientific research. The College pays great attention to the growth of young teachers, trains them with their careers, condensates them with their environment, motivates them with their systems, trains them with sincerity, pays full attention to and devotes all its efforts to supporting the healthy growth of young teachers and encouraging them to further their studies. Eighteen teachers were selected into the “251” talents training project of the university, and three teachers were selected into the subject teaching theory talents training project. There are 6 teachers who won the "Modern Teacher Award", 3 teachers who won "Up-and-coming Teacher Award", 3 teachers who won "Teachers' Moral Pacesetters" at Sichuan Normal University.

The College has more than 10,000 square meters of teaching and scientific research laboratory buildings, teaching and scientific research equipment worth more than 50 million yuan; it has scientific research laboratory, physical experiment demonstration center and electronic experiment demonstration center. And the physical experiment demonstration center has been appraised as an advanced collective of experimental systems in Colleges and universities throughout the country, and teaching laboratory of excellent basic courses among colleges and universities in Sichuan Province. Electronic information experimental teaching demonstration center is the first provincial experimental teaching demonstration center in Sichuan Province.
