On the afternoon of September 7, 2018, 34 members of the University of Glasgow Choir, under the leadership of Longdo, Vice Dean of Confucius Institute of Glasgow University, came to Sichuan Normal University to conduct an exchange tour with the students of the Choir of the College of Music.The event is co-sponsored by Hanban and Confucius Institute Headquarters. The University of Glasgow Choir will have 10-day in-depth exchanges with the University of Electronic Science and Technology, Sichuan Normal University, Central China Normal University and the University of Foreign Trade and Economics. Our university is the second stop of Glasgow University's China Exchange Tour in 2018.Professor Li Yamei, deputy dean of the College of Music (presiding), attended the welcoming ceremony and delivered a speech. Some leaders of the Conservatory of Music and related professional teachers and 70 students of the choir of Sichuan Normal University jointly participated in the exchange activities. The activity scene was filled with friendly and warm atmosphere.

    At the welcoming meeting, Li Yamei, deputy dean of the College of Music(presiding), welcomed Glasgow University teachers and students who came from a long way. She also introduced the history and academic philosophy of Sichuan Normal University and College of Music, as well as the performance and competition of the choir of the College of Music.Ms. Long Duo, Vice Dean of Confucius Institute of Glasgow University, made a speech of thanks. She expressed her heartfelt thanks for the warm hospitality she received during her visit to China and the warm welcome from teachers and students of Sichuan Normal University. She also introduced the long history, rigorous research tradition and high-quality teaching achievements of the University of Glasgow in the past 700 years. Then the choirs of the two universities showed the chorus songs and opened the music exchange activities.

    After the welcome ceremony, the students of the Choir of Music College Sichuan Normal University led the students of Glasgow University Choir to visit the campus. Even though they came from different native countries, the communication between the students was not affected. DeanLongduo gave a high appraisal of the enthusiasm and vigor of the students of Sichuan Normal University.

    At 7:30 p.m., the Glasgow University Choir-Sichuan Normal University Exchange Concert officially began in the Academic Presentation Hall of the Library of Sichuan Normal University. Nearly 200 teachers and students of our university jointly watched the performance. Yang Yingyu, Dean of International Education College of Sichuan Normal University, and Huang Zhiwei, Secretary of the Party Committee of Music College of Sichuan Normal University, Li Yamei, Vice Dean of Music College of Sichuan Normal University (presiding), and the teachers of Foreign Languages College and Conservatory of Music attended the performance.

    The University of Glasgow Choir has sung 14 works of Scottish folk songs, religious Mass and art songs in different periods and styles. The University of GlasgowChoir has won the heartfelt appreciation of the audience by its excellent skills and solid foundation of chorus. The finale of the concert is Jasmine Flower, which represents the sincere friendship between the students of the two universities after two hours of intense running-in rehearsal by the two choirs.Nearly 100 people’s Choir pushed the whole performance to a climax, and the second stop of the 2018 China Tour by the University of Glasgow Choir ended smoothly with endless applause from the audience.

    This exchange has been a success and aroused strong repercussions. It has demonstrated the strong strength of music teaching in our college, the solid foundation of basic training of chorus, the unique charm of chorus music culture, and has greatly enhanced the influence of our university. It has an important influence and the whole of China's higher education circle for the practice of “building a school into a Chinese higher education circle”. The vision of “Ball has a certain reputation as a comprehensive normal university” has made the teachers and students of our college to do their duty.
